Swiftcurrent Happenings Week 8

MAIL Quinn Endicott/SWC  110 9th Street West Columbia Falls, MT 59912 7/17/21 Today was an awesome day! The highline trail is by far the best hike that I have done in the park and the best hike that I have ever been on in my life. I left this morning at 5:30 am, taking a mother and daughter, to Logan's Pass, about 45 minutes from Swiftcurrent. I gave the mother and daughter a ride so that they could do the Highline trail as well. We got there at around 6:15 am and the entire parking lot was already full so I had to find a spot a quarter mile down the road. I left the mother and daughter at the restrooms to go find my friends for the hike and met up with them at the trailhead. We immediately took off for the 22 mile trek and were blown away at the views near the beginning of the trail. It was basically the going-to-the-sun road but without the cars. At around mile 7 we hit a turn off that would lead to an overlook of Grinnell Glacier, an extremely popular hiking spot and one ...

Swiftcurrent Happenings Week 7

MAIL Quinn Endicott/SWC  110 9th Street West Columbia Falls, MT 59912 7/9/21 Friday was another typical day at work with my shift being 6am-2pm. We are still dealing with answering COVID questions and our restaurant was recently downsized to accommodate the needs of the Many Glacier Hotel so half our staff now works 1 mile up the road at the Many Glacier restaurant. This means that we have to have guests pre-order food for breakfast and lunch so that our limited staff can keep up with meals throughout the day. After work I joined a group of ministry friends and a co-worker for a hike to Bullhead lake. It was a great time with many jokes made and rocks being thrown in the river and lake. We would yell a frustration from the summer and then throw a rock into the stream/lake. Although it ended up turning more into who could make the biggest splash. It was quite an enjoyable evening which was a nice refreshing way to end the work week before heading into my birthday weekend. The group ...

Swiftcurrent Happenings Week 6

MAIL Quinn Endicott/SWC  110 9th Street West Columbia Falls, MT 59912 7/2/21-7/3/21 Today was a big adventure after work. A group of ten of us gathered gear and then journeyed up to the top of  Mt.Altynn to camp for the night. Each of us carried a fairly heavy pack, mine weighed about 30lbs, and we started up the 3,000ft of elevation change over the course of 2.5 miles. On our way up we saw many flowers and stopped multiple times to not burn ourselves out. We were able to catch the beauty of the clouds as the sun set to the West. We made it to our camping spot after a little less than 3 hours and we were all exhausted. We set up camp and then stargazed until we all either dozed off or tried to fall asleep. We woke up at 3:45am to start the rest of the trek up to the summit, about 600ft over half a mile, and we were able to see the dawn of the sun come over the mountain top. We stayed at the summit for the length of the sunrise and I was able to get a time-lapse of the entire t...
