Swiftcurrent Happenings Week 7

MAIL Quinn Endicott/SWC  110 9th Street West Columbia Falls, MT 59912 7/9/21 Friday was another typical day at work with my shift being 6am-2pm. We are still dealing with answering COVID questions and our restaurant was recently downsized to accommodate the needs of the Many Glacier Hotel so half our staff now works 1 mile up the road at the Many Glacier restaurant. This means that we have to have guests pre-order food for breakfast and lunch so that our limited staff can keep up with meals throughout the day. After work I joined a group of ministry friends and a co-worker for a hike to Bullhead lake. It was a great time with many jokes made and rocks being thrown in the river and lake. We would yell a frustration from the summer and then throw a rock into the stream/lake. Although it ended up turning more into who could make the biggest splash. It was quite an enjoyable evening which was a nice refreshing way to end the work week before heading into my birthday weekend. The group ...

Swiftcurrent Happenings Week 6

MAIL Quinn Endicott/SWC  110 9th Street West Columbia Falls, MT 59912 7/2/21-7/3/21 Today was a big adventure after work. A group of ten of us gathered gear and then journeyed up to the top of  Mt.Altynn to camp for the night. Each of us carried a fairly heavy pack, mine weighed about 30lbs, and we started up the 3,000ft of elevation change over the course of 2.5 miles. On our way up we saw many flowers and stopped multiple times to not burn ourselves out. We were able to catch the beauty of the clouds as the sun set to the West. We made it to our camping spot after a little less than 3 hours and we were all exhausted. We set up camp and then stargazed until we all either dozed off or tried to fall asleep. We woke up at 3:45am to start the rest of the trek up to the summit, about 600ft over half a mile, and we were able to see the dawn of the sun come over the mountain top. We stayed at the summit for the length of the sunrise and I was able to get a time-lapse of the entire t...

Swiftcurrent Happenings Week 5

MAIL Quinn Endicott/SWC  110 9th Street West Columbia Falls, MT 59912  6/25/21 Today was another typical day at work but I had a fun night to look forward to. A group of the ministry team went to Logan Pass along the Going-to-the-Sun-Road to watch the sunset. I had the wrong idea and wore Chaco's not thinking that there would be snow at the top of the pass. Along the drive we saw some big horned sheep and one of them jumped on a car in the parking lot. We then drove along the road until we found a good spot to watch the beginning of the sunset. After the sunlight faded from that spot we chased it up the mountain back to Logan Pass until it had faded there. We then went hiking on the snow at Logan Pass until it started to get dark, then we slid down the snow hills we had climbed back to the parking lot. I implemented my back sledding technique and it worked fairly well. I then drove back to Swiftcurrent to get some sleep before waking up really early to do the half-marathon in ...
